Home Care Marketing: A Practical Guide for Agencies

Most home care marketing advice is a list of tactics with no way to tell which ones are working. This guide is organized the other way around: start with how you’ll measure, then pick channels that move the number.

Start with one number: cost per acquired client

Every marketing decision gets easier once you track cost per acquired client — total spend on a channel divided by the clients it actually produced. Leads, clicks, and impressions are inputs; enrolled clients are the output. Set up your intake so every new client is tagged with where they came from, and you’ll quickly see which channels deserve more budget and which are quietly draining it.

The channels that produce home care clients

Referral relationships. Still the backbone. Discharge planners, Medicaid case managers and MLTC care managers, Area Agencies on Aging, senior housing, and adult day programs send clients when you’re easy to work with and you close the loop. Slow to build, hard to scale, but the highest-trust source you have.

A website that explains and converts. Families and the people advising them check you out before they call. A fast, clear site that explains the programs you serve, your counties, and how to start does double duty: it builds trust and earns search traffic.

Helpful content / SEO. Plain-language answers to the questions your market is actually searching — how the state’s Medicaid home care program works, what “eligible” means, how enrollment works — pull in the right people over time. It compounds; it’s slow.

Local and social presence. Short-form video and an active local presence keep you visible, especially for private-pay and family decision-makers.

Paid leads. The fastest to turn on, and the easiest to overspend on. Treat it as a channel you measure like any other — on cost per client, not cost per lead.

Where paid leads fit (and the traps)

Paid leads accelerate growth when the economics are honest. The traps are consistent: the same “lead” mass-sold to a dozen agencies, aged leads that have gone cold, and fee structures tied to enrollment or Medicaid revenue that you don’t want your name on.

Before you buy, ask: How many agencies get this same lead? Was the family screened and did they consent? How fresh is it? And how am I charged? A pre-qualified, matched lead at a flat per-lead fee is almost always cheaper per client than a cheap lead sold to everyone.

How Adult Care Network fits

We’re the paid-lead channel built to be measured. We screen families against a written standard, deliver each to your portal in real time, and cap distribution at no more than three matched agencies — for a flat marketing fee per qualified lead, never per enrollment, never a share of Medicaid revenue. We’re a marketing-services company, not a provider.
